Because a world in which young people from townships and rural areas lead their own development, design their own programmes, govern their own institutions, and hold external companies and organisations accountable for what they deliver is a world in which the intermediaries, the consultants, the institutional Landlords, and the Visitors cannot continue to collect the money meant to empower you.

That is why your voice is suppressed.

That is why your governance authority is tokenistic.

That is why "youth participation" means sitting in a workshop and answering questions, not sitting in the boardroom and making decisions.
